His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and the Ruler of Sharjah has issued Amiri Decree No. (79) in November 2016 to establish Sharjah Women's Sports headed by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs. Sharjah Women's Sports aims to serve the sports sector in all aspects, develop women's sports in UAE in general and Sharjah in particular. Sharjah Women's Sports seeks to highlight the role of UAE sportswomen in sports events, participate in international competitions, encourage UAE sportswomen to take part in different sports, consolidate a state-of-the-art and integrated system to develop women's sports in Sharjah as per the best international practices, empower national cadres and develop human capital in the sports field, and bring up a qualified generation of women leaders in the field of sports in cooperation with international institutions. Sharjah Women's Sports also seeks to spread sports culture, create a motivating sports environment that contributes to the development of women's sports, and provide sports services to targeted groups as per the international standards.
