The Red Deer Native Friendship Society is non-profit, charitable Aboriginal agency that provides Aboriginal cultural teachings and intervention/prevention services that empower community. In a spirit of friendship we make cultural connections and bring awareness of Aboriginal people and culture to all citizens of Red Deer.We have many great programs, workshops and events that are free and open to all people in Red Deer.1. The Friendship Centre provides drop-in space and a place to express and practice Native Spirituality. We are open Monday to Friday from 9:00am - 4:30pm.2. The Four Directions Family Support Program provides in home and office supports to families/individuals focusing on prevention and intervention services. We have a Family Support worker, Health Liaison and Cultural Family Educator. The Cultural Family Educator provides traditional parenting, Little Paws for preschoolers and literacy programming.3. Aboriginal Housing Program provides services to individuals, families and couples who are at risk of becoming homeless. We provide outreach services, referrals and cultural support. We also offer many learning circles on various topics to help people gain and maintain housing.4. Aboriginal Youth Centre for Success is a youth leadership program developed to provide an opportunity for youth to receive support to complete high school, access traditional teachings, and life skills development.5. Our Cultural Connections program supports agencies in Red Deer providing housing supports through providing cultural programming to their participants.6. We provide Aboriginal Awareness and Cultural Competency workshops through the Journey Forward. Sessions and prices vary, contact the centre for more information.7.
