Established in February 2010, SBI Royal Securities Plc (SBIR) became the first Japanese financial institution to acquire the "full license" required to operate a securities business in Cambodia from Securities and Exchange Commission of Cambodia (SECC). SBIR merged with the Royal Group's securities unit of Cambodia and made a capital alliance with Finansia Syrus Securities Public Company Limited (Finansia Syrus) of Thailand on December 2011 and May 2014 respectively.
