Oil & Energy

Proteum Energy is a midstream-focused distributed clean hydrogen production company addressing a pressing environmental need. SnMR™ is a patented and proprietary hydrogen production technology. The technology integrates a steam non-methane reforming (SnMR) process incorporating lower produced H2 carbon intensity (CI) than traditional SMR. Clean hydrogen production is achieved with localized CCS or EOR. The technology will simultaneously produce H2 and pipeline quality methane from distressed priced/rejected ethane, or any y-grade NGL. Produced designer fuel can facilitate improved ESG scores and lower operator fuel costs by leveraging transportation and fractionation price differentials from y-grade ethane for many producers and operators. The midstream modular technology can produce a designer fuel fine-tuned to meet designated Methane Number or Wobbe Index to optimize engine or turbine performance and minimize NOx emissions, making the system an ideal in-line gas to power system capable of blending H2 for the growing number of hydrogen ready turbines. Further hydrogen production and fuel efficiencies are derived with waste heat recovery systems. Each Proteum modular base system has the capability to produce as much hydrogen as a 20MW electrolyzer. More modules can readily be added for additional production requirements. Cracking ethane with SnMR requires approximately half the energy of SMR. Therefore, the produced H2 carbon intensity is approximately 45% less than SMR, and, with CCS/EOR, the delivered blue H2 approaches similar carbon intensity as green H2.
