SMTI is a leading developer of low-cost, scalable Thermally-Driven Heat Pump (TDHP) technology. With third-party-validated performance, these replacements for furnaces, boilers and water-heaters cut 30-50% from the cost and emissions from natural gas, propane, or oil normally used for heating in homes and light-commercial buildings. TDHPs are particularly well-suited for providing warm comfortable building heating in cold climates; however, they can operate in any temperature zone. One-third of the output heat is renewable energy because a TDHP draws heat from the surrounding (ambient) air, even when it is well below zero outside. In some applications (such as restaurants and hotels), the technology can provide heating for all domestic hot water, plus free comfort cooling.TDHPs designed by SMTI utilize the single-effect absorption cycle, which has a long-proven track record of success.
