The HMS is combining innovative interdisciplinary scholarly research on maritime Policy & Strategy, with high-quality research on maritime issues of public concern. Along side developing knowledge, the center provides policy orientated analysis and recommendations for decision makers, leaders and the strategic researchers' community in Israel, and encourages wide participation in public discussion of the issues at hand. HMS is promoting creative thinking on the subject matter to enrich the existing established-scientific approach. The Center's Objectives:• Academic research into central issues in Maritime Policy & Strategy• Joining the University's wide efforts to lead the field of Marine Research in all its aspects• Enhancing UoH unique relations with Israel's Security Establishment• Serving as a "Think Tank" for policy makers• Shaping Israeli public discourse, and promoting it in cases it does not exist, through position papers, symposiums and media appearances• Creating long lasting collaborations with leading institutions worldwide in the maritime domain • Educating young researchers in the various disciplines of Maritime Strategy• Providing the IN Naval Academy and the IDF Joint Staff College academic and Intellectual education
