Kalasha Heritage is an umbrella organisation of the Kalasha People to conserve, protect and promote the Kalasha tangible and intangible heritage. Kalasha ethno-heritage refers to a living heritage site dating back to 4000 years in Hindu Kush mountain valleys in North West Pakistan bordering Afghanistan. Kalasha Heritage includes an ancient inherited agro-pastoral system embedded in the mountain landscape.Living Cultural heritage site however includes intangible aspects of heritage such as language, beliefs and culture. For traditional communities like the Kalasha who are connected to their past through inherited traditions, language, clothing, songs, food, dances, and many other cultural elements are equally important as tangible aspects of Kalasha Heritage. Therefore the most important discussions we aim to bring here is of urgent legal measures and policy framework for recognition, preservation, and maintenance of both tangible and intangible aspects of Kalasha heritage in Hindu Kush valleys in Chitral.
