The National Indian Education Association (NIEA), founded in 1969, is the most inclusive Native organization in the country representing Native students, educators, families, communities, and tribes. NIEA's goal is to expand access to equal educational opportunities for every Native student regardless of their location or background. This goal is accomplished through focusing on helping tribes and communities develop capacity to administer excellent education programs for Native students by promoting culturally based education models that allow future generations to strengthen languages and preserve the traditions of their tribes and communities.
