Domestic Science comprises 2 brilliantly inspiring independent, mini department stores in Nailsworth and Tetbury, Gloucestershire. With a third edit of the store now open in Stow-on-the-Wold. The Domestic Science brand also has an e-commerce site, enabling us to reach the entire country, and beyond, with our goodies.Modelled on a traditional general store, our products aim to please, whilst bringing humour, organisation, and good aesthetics to everyday life, supplying the ingredients for a FUNctional and happy home. Described as a ‘treasure trove' the shop sells a diverse range of thoughtfully chosen contemporary and vintage homewares, clothes, beauty products, hardware, toys, gifts and home fragrance.Founded by Libs Lewis, a self-confessed magpie, Domestic Science was a progression from Libs selling antique and interior pieces in 1984, with her friends. Jump forward to 2011, a large retail space became vacant and Libs decided it was time to put her dream into practice, the space was wonderfully rambling and lent itself perfectly to a home and vintage store.Libs said: ‘I jumped at the chance and began sourcing and curating a collection whilst a team of builders, electricians, plasterers and painters worked their magic, the result was Domestic Science. A second store followed in Tetbury a few years later along with the launch of our new website and online store in June 2019.' Then in May 2021 the third store, a smaller edit of the other stores, opened in Talbot Court in Stow-on-the-Wold.Chosen from far-flung places, our products can be pretty, industrial, nostalgic, stylish, kitsch or just plain cool; simplicity and attention to detail when sourcing are key. Our only edict is "if we don't love it, we don't sell it".
