We are a semi-independent state agency legislatively directed to help motorists find essential services. We help strengthen the economic infrastructure of local communities along Oregon's highways and byways. Business highway signs, rest area management, travel information centers,Travel Plazas, and TripCheck.com are a few of the ways we connect motorists to partners, attractions, and businesses.Oregon Travel Experience (OTE) is the dba of the Oregon Travel Information Council. Ten volunteer members are appointed by the governor and one position represents the Oregon Transportation Commission as called for by statute. These private citizens donate their time to determine rules and policies for OTE programs. Their mission is to create a great visitor experience by providing directions to destinations, connecting travelers with Oregon's resources, and ensuring safe and convenient travel.OTE also administers the Oregon Heritage Tree and Oregon Historical Marker programs with groups of highly motivated and professional volunteers. These programs preserve our state's important historical icons. Many of us can recall standing in front of a historical marker as a child and reading about an event which took place over a hundred years ago. OTE ensures significant trees and historical markers retain their significance for future generations.
