Asmat is a student-run, non-governmental organization which aims at bringing change at the rural grassroots level through youth mobilization. It was founded in 2014 by three students of Lady Shri Ram College for Women, since then it has attracted student from some of the best institutions of higher education in India. We work in diverse areas to contribute our part towards rural social and economic development such as education, entrepreneurship, health and sanitation, civil awareness and governance to count only a few. We initiated our first project in Soda, Tonk, Rajasthan where we worked for three years under the guidance of Ms. Chhavi Rajawat the first women Sarpanch in India with an MBA degree. Currently, we are working in Ahmadpur Darewala, Sirsa, Haryana in collaboration with Mr. Aditya Devilal who is currently a member of Zila Parishad, Haryana. Annually, we have two program i.e. summer and winter for which new batches of interns/volunteers are recruited biannually, all the managerial issues regarding the programs are entrusted upon a core team who receive their guidance from an advisory board. Many students who were engaged with us have made it to world renowned institutions of higher education such as Yale University, London School of Economics, Oxford University to count only a few and many other have carried forward the baton of change to platforms like Teach for India, LAMP Fellowship, Gandhi Fellowship among many others.
