Board Member at SF New Deal | Covid-19 Relief for San Francisco - San Francisco, CA, US
SF New Deal provides supportive services and financial opportunities for small businesses in San Francisco. We work to address both the symptoms and root causes of inequity by building pathways which connect local business owners, workers, community leaders, and neighbors in need, for the benefit of the entire city.About Us:SF New Deal began as a rapid response to San Francisco's COVID-19 shelter in place order. The first program (CBO) raised money from private donors to pay restaurants to make and deliver meals to vulnerable individuals and families. SF New Deal worked in close partnership with fifteen long-serving community-based organizations to identify and reach people closest to harm and deliver nourishing meals made by local restaurants facing extreme economic hardship from a drop-off in revenue. SF New Deal has expanded to include three additional community-feeding programs supporting Congregate Housing Sites, Great Plates Delivered, and Feed + Fuel Chinatown 2.0. These programs are operated in partnership with the City of San Francisco's Department of Aging and Disability Services, Department of Public Health, and Human Services Agency. To date, we have provided over 1,600,000 meals, supported 170 businesses, and disbursed over $16,000,000 in direct financial relief. 62% of local businesses that have participated in our programs are owned by women, BIPOC, or LGBTQ+ identifying people. We are helping to keep businesses open, workers employed, and our neighbors in need nourished. The fragility of small businesses and food insecurity were challenges that persisted prior to the pandemic and will continue to exist afterward. Together with you, we are building a vision of a new model of community care. Join us!
