SaptKrishi is a young Agri-Tech start-up incubated at IIT Kanpur, with youth in decisive roles who are determined to work towards agricultural innovation and the transformation of rural South-East Asia. The extremely short shelf life of fruits and vegetable results in a big chunk of the produces not making it to the market and ends up getting wasted. Our enterprise has developed a product termed as the 'Sabzikothi/Preservator,' colloquially translated to a chamber of vegetables, which is a low-cost, microclimate based self-adaptive storage and transportation solution for extending the shelf-life of horticultural produce anywhere between 7 to 30 days. The complete setup operates on a 10-watt solar panel and requires 1 litre of water in a day, and no further maintenance is needed. It is one of its kind as it does not require any chemical and is a green solution. The cost is around ₹ 10,000 for up-to 500 kg of storage. Sabjikothi will address the problem by the provision of affordable storage directly to individual farmers, cooperatives, and traders to ensure better post-harvest outcomes.
