Shine Early Learning Centre was founded by Amanda Botfield in 2008. The centre operated for 10 years until it unfortunately had to close down in 2018 due to not being able to meet the landlords rent demands in negotiations of a new lease.During its time, Shine achieved an Exceeding Rating in every Quality Area of the NQF, and won many awards for the children's artworks which now hang in Gosford Hospital. It was renowned for producing quality educators and being one of the first centres to introduce a 'Nature Preschool' by regular visits to the beach with the children.The centre was one of only a few small centres left, having the capacity for only 28 children per day. Shine became the centre of choice for agencies working with children from difficult backgrounds, including those who had been removed from their families due to neglect and abuse. Shine also sponsored many children with disabilities to attend social functions through the Lions Club and Rotary.
