Primarily consulting at this point. We help broken companies develop, perhaps for the first time, organizational charts, roles, chain of command, if you will, that were formerly non-existent or if they did exist were permeable, boundaryless, foggy expressions of ego. This is particularly common is what is know as "family businesses". Typically businesses that have too many family members operating in undefined roles revert to the lowest common denominator of that same childhood family dysfunction in which they were raised. For example, Dad starts the business. Son 1 is the Production Manager. Son 2 becomes the Sales Manager. Son 2's wife, the daughter-in-law, becomes the Marketing Manager. Son 1 and 2's sister feels resentment that Son 2's wife is the Marketing Manager and controlling the access points to social media channels. She really feels left behind because what she wanted all along is Dad the founder and visionary's affirmation....on and on it goes.So..I and my team come into these situations where the social media channels are dormant, broken, where the decision making is spotty and as it were too many cooks in the kitchen. Before I offer any strategic game plan we have to fix the foundation. Many times that is having a group family meeting to layout in Dr. Phil style, a "here is what's going down" scenario.Essentially our first step is to engage in "Business Family Therapy" to even begin to address solutions to problems. Yes. Fixing broken systems. I fix things. I create from scratch that which formerly did not exist.----------------------The rest is easy. Setting up technology, marketing and logistics solutions are not hard. The trick as described above is educating the key players on who is doing what and where that stops. Boundaries and job roles. We create structure and sequences of events to reach goals and produce results.
