Finally! A global membership community to support professionals in L&D! The Learning Development Accelerator, to be known colloquially as LDA, will bring professionals together to support and learn from each other, to explore research-aligned practices, to build professional standing for the field, to advocate for ourselves as professionals in L&D.We who work on the front lines of learning and development need an organization that puts us at the center—accelerating our ability to learn from each other, to learn from science, to inform our professional values, to build a foundational core of professional practices. We need an organization that brings together a diverse and global community of learning architects, trainers, learning experience designers, performance consultants, learning evaluators, learning engineers, learning-focused data scientists, learning strategists, eLearning developers, learning executives, research translators, and newcomers to the L&D field.Why Now?LDA was born out of The L&D Conference 2020 when participants, at the end of the groundbreaking six-week online conference, wanted to continue the immersive and intimate engagement begun throughout their time together. There was such a hunger for a community of professionals to share insights on research and practice that several groups formed spontaneously to continue to learn from each other. The need may be obvious, but what is new as we head into 2021 is that unique and creative ways of learning are emerging from the angst and chaos of the coronavirus pandemic. New technologies are making it possible to learn online and learn together as community members. We are all pioneers now in this new learning landscape. LDA will be dedicated to creative explorations—new ways of building shared knowledge, shared values, shared purpose.More to come!
