OSII was created in FY2016 as a joint effort between the Office of Technology Management and the Office of Academic and Research Affairs to foster and facilitate new and current relationships and collaborations between UTHealth faculty and various industry partners. As such, OSII champions the research and reputation of UTHealth, through its world class clinicians and researchers, as a global research partner of choice for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies among others.OSII approaches this mission by serving in a variety of roles, including:1) a point of contact for all faculty members and industry2) a matchmaker to connect potential collaborators with mutual interests and complementary resources3) facilitator between UTHealth administrative offices to provide timely and efficient on-boarding of projects and alliancesOn-going efforts span all UTHealth schools and disciplines, including basic, translational, and clinical research.OSII is led by Associate Director Melissa Thompson, Ph.D.
