DigVentures Ltd was founded in 2011, and is a social enterprise committed to designing, developing and delivering community archaeology projects. We combine our considerable experience and understanding of commercial archaeology with a strategic approach to outreach and engagement, designing public-facing research tailored to the specific needs of our project partners and heritage managers. In addition to leading or partnering on Heritage Lottery Fund projects, DigVentures also specialises in using crowdfunding and crowdsourcing to build audiences for sustainable archaeology projects. Over the last year (2012/2013) we have successfully: • Raised £55K in crowdfunded finance from a global network for Flag Fen, Leiston Abbey and the Thames Foreshore. • Trained 350 people in NVQ equivalent archaeological fieldwork skills • Hosted over 3,500 people during archaeological open days • Increased year-on-year visitor numbers at Flag Fen and Leiston Abbey by 30% • ‘Expert-sourced' archaeological teams from over 15 Higher Education Institutions and Independent Research Institutions We have specialist expertise in heritage marketing and media (we are currently contracted by The History Channel to develop archaeological programming) and project evaluation (we managed the evaluation of the Cultural Olympiad and Festival for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games).
