The mission of Windsor Public Schools is to develop the genius in every child and to create lifelong learners. Windsor Public Schools serves nearly 4,000 students in the community of Windsor, Connecticut, a town of about 29,000 residents, located in north central Connecticut between Hartford and Springfield, Massachusetts. Windsor Public Schools is comprised of six schools: Grades Pre-K-2 Oliver Ellsworth School Poquonock School Grades 3-5 Clover Street School John F. Kennedy School Grades 6-8 Sage Park Middle School Grades 9-12 Windsor High School Our school community consists of a diverse and vibrant student body. Our students were born in no fewer than 37 states, 30 countries, and 3 territories. Students in Windsor Public Schools have a wide range of educational opportunities--award-winning music and art programs, 21 Advanced Placement courses, UCONN Early College Experience courses, the freedom to choose from 11 career pathways that connect Windsor High coursework with industry, Air Force Jr. ROTC, free after school enrichment programs, and championship athletics. In addition, Windsor Public Schools embraces the use of technology in instruction. Windsor is a Google Apps for Education School district. All students are assigned Chromebooks in grades 2-12. In PreK-1, classrooms are assigned carts of iPads. Windsor Public Schools is a great place to teach and learn! As an educator new to the district, we offer prior to each new school year a three-day induction program focused on instructional and community partnerships that include a tour of the town, a luncheon with a community partner and an off-site team building experience. For educators new to the profession, time for mentoring and support is job-embedded. Windsor Public Schools has official partnerships for pre-service educators with the following universities: University of Connecticut, Central Connecticut State University, and University of St. Joseph in Connecticut.
