Our Mission StatementThe Elizabeth Fry Charity provides support to women, mostly on licence from prison, who have a range of complex needs. Through our work, we help women to begin to address the issues they face, to improve their lives and reduce the likelihood of further offending. Approved PremisesApproved Premises are premises approved under section 13 of the Offender Management Act 2007. They provide accommodation, support and monitoring to men and women in the criminal justice system who are assessed as posing a medium to very high risk of harm to others. Most of the people who come to Approved Premises have been released from custody on licence, but there are a small number who are on bail or who have been sentenced to community sentences. Elizabeth Fry House is a 24-bed Approved Premises for women. There are 101 Approved Premises for England and Wales. Elizabeth Fry is one of only 11 Approved Premises provided by Independent organisations rather than the National Probation Service. Elizabeth Fry is one of only seven Approved Premises for women in England and Wales.Like all Approved Premises we provide support to residents in the form of one to one sessions with a designated Offender Supervisor as well as a programme of activities and sessions provided by partner agencies. Elizabeth Fry House also provides a number of services to women which we believe are important in contributing to them being able to make changes to their lives and move on successfully. Such programmes are not provided through our contract with the Ministry of Justice and we are therefore reliant on raising additional funds or volunteers to provide them.
