EXIM Bank of Pakistan is now gearing up to be operational within the first half of 2021. EXIM Bank of Pakistan will operate as a Development Financial Institution and will be the official export credit agency (ECA) of Pakistan regulated by the State Bank of Pakistan. The Asian Development Bank has been the strategic partner of the Bank, working seamlessly in parallel to lend support in financing the procurement of some of the finest international and local consultancies in shaping the business plan, financial model and operational road map of the Bank in accordance with international standards. Objectives of EXIM Bank of Pakistan:As the official export credit agency of Pakistan, EXIM Bank is tasked with playing a hugely critical role through its policies in support of exports. The Bank's main objectives are to be a catalyst to support enhancement of Pakistan's exports:• Support in the expansion of exports by encouraging existing exporters to increase the market share in the current markets and expand in to new markets; • Support in the diversification of our export base by encouraging new sectors to export their goods and services, such as Halal Industry, IT, Construction/Engineering, Education and Healthcare. • Support the reduction of imports by supporting import substitution projects.EXIM Bank will contribute to the above, by providing risk mitigating insurance products in partnership with some of the best international reinsurance companies as well as other export credit agencies and lending products like working capital financing, capital financing and buyer credit financing. With sufficient resources provided by the stakeholders, EXIM will also provide bonding products to create a level playing field for local construction and engineering companies to compete in overseas projects, stimulating healthy competition and financial success.
