How it all started?Surigao Digital Professionals Associations (SDPA) was founded on the 8th day of November 2019 in Surigao City, Philippines. A formal induction was graced by the Department of Information and Communications Technology, Surigao City Officers, as a duly constituted authority, led the oath-taking ceremony of the SDPA officers on the same day. The realization of this association was ushered by the DICT Surigao to promote the freelancing industry within the city and across the whole province. In fact, they have provided an avenue for the SDPA members to be equipped with ICT technical skills through training that lasted for 10 rigorous weeks. This group of young professionals who started as scholars in the first-ever DigitalJobsPh Training - Digital Marketing and E-Commerce Course in Surigao City, gained national recognition for having performed a perfect percentage of completers and 24 Medalists. This is the highest achievement ever recorded in the widespread conduct of this training in the entire Philippines as of November 6, 2019. The success of the training has brought together graduates to the establishment of the association. This project from the Department of Information and Communications Technology has opened doors to the people of Surigao City and propagate a relevant solution to unemployment among the constituents. The SDPA is one with DICT to improve the digital skills and awareness of its advantages to the people and utilize it for economic stability. That through the establishment of SDPA will uplift young and old alike individuals who would want to venture into the freelancing industry in the province of Surigao del Norte. This is also means of contributing to the needs of the community in response to globalization which will give a huge opportunity of employment.
