I started Susan LaCava, SC in 1992 to practice in the securities class action area. Because of a change in the securities laws, I moved to the antitrust field in the early 90's. Since that time, I added to consumer law to my practice.Although I am a solo practitioner, I work with law firms around the country. Plaintiffs firms tend to be small, but handle large, complex litigation by forming informal groups to work on cases. For example, if a firm is beginning a new case, it may call me and others in the field to ask us to participate. We all contribute to a litigation fund to finance the case. One firm serves as lead counsel to coordinate our work. The internet has made it possible for plaintiff firms to practice together as if we had offices next door to one another.
