Cascadia Seaweed was conceived in 2018 and incorporated in 2019, and is growing to be the largest provider of ocean cultivated seaweed in North America. Our first objective is to make a positive impact on the environment. Our second mandate is to work with and support coastal First Nations by creating economic opportunities. As a private business, the third is to be profitable for our shareholders, investors, and to make sufficient revenue to contribute to the economy. To do that, we have created a line-up of plant-based food products under the brand Kove Ocean Foods. We are also conducting research on a seaweed-based agrifeed that has the potential to reduce bovine methane emissions while improving feed conversion rates and therefore reducing our reliance on land to grow feed. In addition to food and feed products, seaweed is being used in nutra and pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, bio-packaging, bio-fuels, fertilizers and more. Globally, demand is constantly outpacing supply.
