Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement at Roanoke Valley SPCA - Roanoke, VA, US
"The Roanoke Valley Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to improve the quality of life for animals and the people they touch in the Roanoke Valley."Since 1916, the Roanoke Valley SPCA has been the leading advocate for the homeless and unwanted animals of the area. For many years the facility operated out of an old farmhouse, located on 13th Street in Roanoke. Outdated and located in a flood plain, it was obvious that the facility was not meeting our needs nor those of the animals we had been charged with serving. The Barbara & Warner Dalhouse Adoption & Education Center opened in February 2004 and is designed to provide for the care of homeless, adoptable animals while they wait for adoption into permanent, long-term homes. Our goal is to provide healthy, well adjusted animals for those seeking to add a pet to their family. All animals are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Vaccinations are brought up to date, including the rabies vaccine, and all pets are microchipped. The RSPCA relies on the generosity of the community for the funding necessary to provide care for the animals through donations, bequests, fundraisers and grants. In August 2011 the Mountain View Humane - Waldron-Ricci Spay Neuter Clinic was opened in Christiansburg and in September 2012 Mountain View Humane - Sabrina & Lucky Garvin Spay Neuter Clinic was opened in Roanoke. MVH is a low cost, high quality, high volume spay/neuter clinic.
