The Topeka Ronald McDonald House began as a vision. It was a vision that became a reality through the hard work and dedication of caring, concerned individuals who saw a way to help families in need. The result is a "home-away-from-home" for out-of-town families of children and young adults receiving medical care in Topeka. Our House opened its doors on June 15, 1988. We were the 112th House to open in the USA and the 4th to open in Kansas. We have had over 20,000 guests stay at our House from all over the world. While we request a donation of $15 for each night, we do not charge for our services. This enables any family to stay at the house, regardless of their financial situation. The actual operational cost of staying at the Ronald McDonald House is $45 a night. Our House has eight bedrooms with private bathrooms. We have a large dining area, a double kitchen, a comfortable living area, inside and outside play areas, laundry facilities, and off street parking. All of our rooms are handicap accessible and we have an elevator that serves all floors.Families find the comforts of home at our House. Sharing, caring, love, and support are in abundance for those in need. At Ronald McDonald House, families find others sharing experiences, understanding, and empathy. To stay at the Ronald McDonald House, a physician, nurse, or social worker must call with a referral.
