Raptor Recovery Australia's charitable purpose is to rescue and rehabilitate sick, injured or orphaned birds of prey with the goal of releasing the birds back to the wild with the highest possible chance of survival. We also provide information and education about birds of prey and best practice standards for their rehabilitation and care, and facilitate collaboration between licensed raptor rehabilitators and veterinarians. RRA's first raptor centre is located in Fitzroy Falls NSW and houses an intensive care area and a large number and variety of aviaries, including the two largest free flight aviaries in the Southern Hemisphere. RRA was originally founded by Churchill Fellow, Peggy McDonald, and changed its name from Higher Ground Raptor Centre in 2021 following the facilitation of the purchase of the Fitzroy Falls property by Wildlife Recovery Australia in an effort to ensure Peggy's legacy can be continued and her incredible knowledge could be shared with the next generation, other wildlife carers and vets.
