The Grow Brooklyn Free Tax Program, also known as VITA, offers free tax preparation to households making $62,000 annually or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and undocumented immigrant taxpayers. IRS-certified volunteers provide basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to filers who are within the VITA Scope of Services.One important goal of the program is to assist eligible taxpayers in applying for the Earned Income Tax Credit, (EITC) which can result in a substantial refund for low-income working families and individuals.We encourage the community at large to consider free tax preparation services. Instead of paying someone to prepare a simple tax return that has one or two wage statements, they can keep their money in their pockets. Our services are trusted, and our tax prep team are IRS-certified with professional attitudes and can-do spirits. We will prepare and file taxes for free during the tax season! In 2019, our tax season will run from January 22nd to April 15th. (BY APPOINTMENT ONLY!)
