The mission of Midtown Community Services is to provide a wholesome, peaceful center where individuals, families & especially children can be nurtured, supported and build community together. Midtown offers people access to connections and resources for realizing their value and full potential.Since opening its doors in early 2017, Midtown has strived to break down barriers created by poverty, isolation and prejudice through community-centered programming, which includes:- Family PRIDE (Parent Resources, Infant Development and Environment): To reduce the high infant mortality rate in St. Louis, which exceeds Third World countries in some neighborhoods, Family PRIDE provides educational outreach, well-baby care information and support groups to pregnant women and new mothers in its census area. This year, 100% of Family PRIDE babies were born healthy.- Youth Program: Midtown offers afterschool youth development programs, a weekly teen club and a summer camp program to children at-risk in the area. From STEAM programming and cooking classes to tutoring and college prep, kids boost their learning and confidence.- Midtown Mamas: Women of all ages meet once a week to participate in activities, take part in classes and workshops, and volunteer in the communities where they live. They also help connect young families to Midtown's programs and services.- Midtown Men's Club: Like the Mamas, the Men's Club is focused on community service, volunteering regularly with Food Outreach to serve those living with HIV or cancer and with City Greens Market to ensure their neighbors have access to fresh, healthy food.- Coffee Talk: Twice a month, neighbors, community advocates and business owners come together to address social issues, both nationally and locally, that impact those living in St. Louis.- Walking Club: Participants walk around local neighborhoods and parks every Monday and Friday or work out together at Midtown's community center.
