Oakridge Neighborhood Services is a nonprofit organization founded by the Des Moines Area Council of Churches in 1969 beginning its history of providing affordable housing and vital services to children and families. These services provide a wide range of programs which help children learn, young adults prepare for the work world, and immigrant families assimilate into American culture and provide seniors with housing in dignity and financial security. Oakridge Neighborhood services mission is to provide a safe, secure neighborhood with supportive housing, programs, and services to build and develop the strengths of children, adults, and families moving them toward sustained self-sufficiency and self-reliance.
