The North Carolina Tennis Association (NCTA), a not-for-profit organization, is the state affiliate of the United States Tennis Association in North Carolina and is commonly referred to as USTA North Carolina. The NCTA was founded in 1973 and since that time has focused on its singular mission: To promote and develop the game of tennis in North Carolina.The NCTA administers a variety of programs statewide for players of all ages and ability levels. As a not-for-profit organization, the association invests 100% of its proceeds to promote and develop the growth of tennis in North Carolina. There are currently over 34,000 USTA members residing in North Carolina. A professional staff housed in Greensboro carries out the NCTA's daily operations, but policy is formed and some of the organization's work is executed via a Board and committee structure of volunteers
