Founded in 1973, the Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) is the first nonprofit conservation center in the United States to specialize in the conservation and preservation of paper-based collections for museums, libraries, archives, historical societies, municipal and town records repositories, corporate archives, and private and family collections across the nation.NEDCC offers professional conservation treatment of books, photographs, maps, manuscripts, parchment, papyri, wallpaper, documents, and works of art on paper including Asian Art. The Center's Imaging Services department provides high-quality digital imaging, and the Center's photographers are experienced in the careful handling of rare and fragile materials. NEDCC's Audio Preservation department provides digitization of audio media using traditional and optical-scanning technologies.
