The Fathering Project was established in 2003 by Professor Bruce Robinson, a respiratory physician. Bruce too often discussed the regrets of his patients who did not have long to live. His patients usually said "I didn't spend enough time with my kids", "I spent too much time at work" and "I wish someone could have helped me back then". These conversations led Bruce on a path of research, spending hundreds of hours interviewing men and kids. Through his research he noted that the absence of a strong and appropriate Father figure was the most significant factor in many major health and wellbeing issues experienced by young people.A vision was formed and defined to ensure every child in Australia has an effective father figure and in 2015 The Fathering Project launched their Schools program. The program was designed to inspire and equip Fathers and Father figures to engage positively with their kids.
