Mekong Energy Company Limited (MECO) is an IPP (Independent Power Producer) which owns and operates Phu My 2.2, a combined cycle power plant of 715 MW capacity gas fired in the southern Ba Ria Vung Tau province in Vietnam.It is the first wholly foreign-owned BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) investment awarded for 20 years by MOIT (Ministry of Industry & Trade in Vietnam) to a consortium of 3 world-class shareholders: - EDF, one of the world largest power utilities (56.25% of the legal capital) - SUMITOMO CORPORATION, one of the biggest general trading and investment companies in Japan (28.125%) - JERA, one of the largest power producers in the world (15.625%)Phu My 2.2 started its commercial operation on 4 February 2005, after being designed, erected and commissioned in the frame of an EPC contract signed with EDF.Phu My 2.2 still belongs to the new generation of gas fired combined cycle plant with two Gas Turbines General Electric 9FAe class F, a state-of-the-art technology which enables Phu My 2.2 to generate 715 MW net, with a high efficiency of 56%. Phu My 2.2 is a model for power generation with low environment footprint.Safety and sustainable development are the key priorities of MECO, which is continuously improving the management in Safety, Health, Environment and Quality in order to achieve key targets as follow: - No accident (LTI) for MECO and Subcontractors - No environmental incident - To reach the contractual obligations of availability and capacity for client EVNMECO has successfully achieved all internationally industry management standards in operation and services such as: - ISO 14001 (Environment) in 2006 - OHSAS 18001 (Safety) in 2007 - ISO 9001 (Quality) in 2010 - ISO 45001 (Safety) in 2019These certifications are regularly audited and successfully renewed by the international certification firms.
