Since 1988, the VMC Foundation has been "Helping Silicon Valley Care" by serving as the fundraising arm of Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and the Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System (SCVHHS). While VMC and SCVHHS are public entities and receive funding from the County of Santa Clara, public funding does not nearly fulfill the needs of the hospital system. The VMC Foundation supports dozens of programs and capital projects each year that support the health needs of Santa Clara County's lowest income children and adults. Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (VMC) is a 574-bed acute care teaching hospital and research institution dedicated to the health of the whole community.
