The College aims to advance the science and practice of pathology, to provide public education, to promote research in pathology and to disseminate the results. It is a registered charity.The College was founded in 1962 and received its Royal Charter in 1970. There are 11,000 members worldwide practicing in the 19 pathology specialties. Approximately 78% of the membership are medically qualified, with the remaining 22% being senior clinical scientists.
