At Indy Reads, our mission is to promote and improve the literacy of adults and families in Central Indiana. Our goal is to "Make Indianapolis 100% Literate." Indy Reads uses volunteers to provide basic literacy tutoring to adults that struggle with reading and writing. Our programming includes one-on-one tutoring, small group sessions, English as a Second Language instruction, and "Literacy Labs" at neighborhood centers and correctional facilities. Our services are free to qualified adult students. Your support and involvement is crucial to the success of our organization. Here are some of the ways you can get involved:Shop: In 2012, we opened Indy Reads, an independent bookstore in downtown Indianapolis. We sell new and used books for adults and children. The profits from the bookstore go directly toward improving literacy in our community through Indy Reads. The bookstore has several full and part time staff members, but it could not survive without the help our 150 volunteers.Volunteer: Our organization would not be successful without the unwavering support of our volunteers. With the various programs we offer, there is sure to be a good fit for you. Visit our website to see how you can register to volunteer.Donate: We understand that not everyone has time to volunteer. Your financial support is also crucial in helping us meet our mission of making Central Indiana 100% literate. Every $10 that you give to Indy Reads supports a two-hour tutoring session for an adult student. Visit our website to donate.
