Maitland Tower Corp. is a social enterprise founded in 2016 by Philip Ling, P.Eng.It takes its name from the Maitland Tower, the site of its Headquarters on the shores of the St. Lawrence in Maitland, Augusta Township in Eastern Ontario. The 80 ft. Stone Tower is an iconic landmark on the 13 acre site that has a storied past that dates back to colonization in the 1750's. It is a social enterprise that will become a hub for the community, connecting people with the history, nature, and the St. Lawrence River, and hosting and mentoring the next generation of social enterprises that want to have a positive impact on the community and our planet, while reconnecting people with nature and each other.It is a demonstration site of the Living Building Challenge and Living Community Challenge -- the highest standards of green building design in the world.As part of our site development, we will be protecting, restoring and re-wilding our nearly 1 kilometre of riverfront, and sections of the 13 acre site. To achieve our mission, we will working closely with our new not-for-profit sister organization DoorNumberOne.org, local communities, and partnering with organizations on the same journey.
