Battelle National Biodefense Institute, LLC (BNBI) manages and operates the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC) as a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). National Bioforensic Analysis Center (NBFAC) mission as delineated by Homeland Security Presidential Directive-10 and FBI requirements, is to establish and maintain "always available" bioforensic analyses and to expand this capability to unknown and future biological threat agents to support attribution investigations. National Biological Threat Characterization Center (NBTCC) mission is to establish the scientific basis for the threat posed by traditional, emerging, enhanced and advanced biological agents and life science-related technologies to support and inform Homeland Security Enterprise (HSE) biodefense preparedness, response and recovery decisions.
