In 1963, Harold Kemper Sr. began to repair televisions in his home. The next year he rented a 200 sq.ft building for $20.00 a month, where he grew his TV repair business. In 1966 Mr. Kemper moved to a slightly larger building and began to introduce furniture into his business. At night when Mr. Kemper closed the store, he would deliver the products that he had sold and repaired. His hard work and honest reputation paid off quickly. He was able to purchase the property which he was using and build a new store. By 1985 Mr. Kemper had all 5 of his children working next to him, who now run the business. They were able to expand the company to nearby Hazard, Kentucky. Within a year the new owners purchased land in Hazard and built a large furniture showroom. The Kemper's have always been involved in their local churches and often give donations to schools and other organizations. Harold Sr. started the first fire and ambulance service in Leslie Co. The Kemper's are respected members of the community and enjoy serving their loyal customers!
