About UsXavier is a school built through the efforts of a grass-roots group of parents and opening in 2006. Xavier is the first lay-built Jesuit High School in the United States and the only Jesuit high school within 120 miles of the Coachella Valley. Xavier is associated with the 6 other Jesuit high schools in California and 16 others in the Jesuits' West Province. The tradition was born in sixteenth century Europe by a man and his vision: St. Ignatius Loyola. As founder of the Society of Jesus, Ignatius used the best schools of his day as models to develop a course of studies which combined a liberal arts curriculum with Christian teachings. This course of study has expanded greatly over the past four hundred years.History & MissionWhen the people of the Coachella Valley made known the need for a faith-based educational alternative, the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) entered into the conversation and subsequent journey to build a school in the Jesuit tradition.
