In the 1930's, Grandpa Yerkes moved his family from the winters of Michigan to the golden beaches of Barbados. He & another gentlemen opened a gift shop where the iconic British West Indies Flying Fish became their mascot. Eighty years later Flying Fishing Art, styling the original top hat & monocle, unfolded from the creativity of three of Yerkes' grandchildren. Cindy enjoys working in watercolor, acrylics, pencil color, pencil, pen & ink, pastels & oils. She loves painting a wide range of subjects, from salt water fish & animals, to the southern charm of magnolias, the fleur de lis, and coffee & beignets to landscapes & architecture, to contemporary art with splashes of color! Valerie enjoys collaborating with bands to create their image - from album covers to graphic tees, starting her own clothing line, designing surfboard graphics, developing company logos & branding, & working with organizations that affect positive change in the world. Her passion is creating her best, to make clients look their best! John's love for nature is reflected through his drawings, most notably through his beloved raccoons. He has observed their behavior over many years & has captured their individual personalities in ink, pencil color, & pastel. John has also developed his own style of people caricatures and enjoys illustration. Their website, FlyingFishArt.com, contains a bit of art from each of them... as well as their Facebook pages - Flying Fish Art, Cindy Strecker, and Valerie Strecker.
