Relais & Châteaux Villa Crespi at Orta San Giulio is set in gorgeous natural countryside no more than an hour from downtown Milan, a fabled Moorish palace whose architecture, all richly carved, coloured stuccoes, is reminiscent of the Thousand and One Nights. The Villa is set in a mature park above the lake, at the entrance to the Orta San Giulio and no more than 800 metres from the UNESCO site of the Sacro Monte, an open air Renaissance masterpiece of architecture and art dedicated to the life of St Francis. The two Michelin starred chef, Antonino Cannavacciuolo and his wife Cinzia Primatesta, have been running the Relais and restaurant since 1999.
