Since 2008, Mulrany International has contributed in alleviating the health care burden for the vulnerable populations in Somalia and Kenya through provision of primary health care (PHC) and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services. The population of over 142,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Host communities are captured in Waardhiigle and Xamar Weyne districts, Mogadishu through the PHC/Trauma clinic and the Cholera Treatment Centre. In the Middle Shabelle region, Adan Yabaal district, Mulrany International runs five PHCs with Nutrition and Mobile clinic outreach services for a population of about 47,000 people, while in Kenya, WASH services are provided in Seme Location, Kisumu County for a population of about 70,000. Through consultation with various actors in Health, WASH and Nutrition clusters, Mulrany International continues to provide these essential services in line with the Essential Package of Health Services (EPHS) that ensures engagement of qualified personnel by using proper and efficient Health Management Information System (HMIS) and adaptation of essential drugs, use of accepted manuals and protocols for treatment of the common diseases.
