The Department of Environmental Health Engineering was set up, as a part of the Basic Science Research wing of Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute (Sri Ramachandra University), Porur, Chennai.The Department of Environmental Health Engineering provides industrial consultancy services in occupational health, ergonomics, industrial hygiene and safety to a wide spectrum of industries.The department conducts a variety of research and training activities.We collaborate with national and international governmental, non-governmental or private institutions.The department has been recognized as Technology Transfer Center by the Confederation of Indian Industry under support from the Technology Development Board, Government of India for the purposes of providing occupational health services.International Labour Organisation (ILO) of the United Nations, Geneva has recognized the department as its Collaborating Center of the International Occupational Safety and Health Information Centre (CIS) Network.The department has been recognized recently, as Air Pollution Related Disease Diagnostic Center (APRDC) by the GAIL (India) Limited.The department has been recognized as World Health Organisation (WHO) collaborating centre for Occupational health.It has also been recognised by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) as Centre for Advance Research on Environmental Health: Airpollution
