CIFAL Atlanta was inaugurated in September 2004 as a public-private partnership between the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the City of Atlanta. It operates under the U.S. Law as a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization and it is part of a global network composed of 9 centres covering Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe. Each Center is a regional hub for capacity development bringing together public sector, private sector and civil society. CIFAL Atlanta is dedicated to develop the capacity of government authorities and civil society leaders from the Western Hemisphere to implement the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and achieve sustainable development.
