In 2006, Weight Loss Healthcare Centers of America opened a specialty ambulatory surgical center in Overland Park, Kan., to help address the obesity problem in the Midwest. The company became a regional leader in laparoscopic adjustable gastric band surgery and began exploring new ways to provide more services to its patients. In order to expand services and serve more people in the community, the company opened Blue Valley Hospital in 2010. Since its opening, Blue Valley Hospital has added additional weight loss, general surgery, and pain management capabilities to better serve the needs of the community. Blue Valley Hospital also is home to the Kansas City area's first Hitachi Echelon Oval MRI. The Oval MRI was designed to accommodate patient bodies while providing greater diagnostic confidence and improved clinical workflow capabilities. The hospital is currently recruiting for additional specialty practices to expand its scope of service.
