Inner City Tech was founded on the premise of providing basic and advanced high-tech computer vocational training to low and no skilled general and at-risk populations in New York's under-served communities. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio in his State of the City Speech said "We demand a city that lifts the floor for those struggling day-to-day, that offers every New Yorker a fair shot, because that is the City we all signed up for." The Mayor also previously stated that he plans to facilitate continued growth of the Tech Sector, with a clear understanding that we want to make sure those jobs are available to every kind of New Yorker." Inner City Tech intends to seize upon the de Blasio Administration's vision and commitment to make sure tech jobs are available to every kind of New Yorker by providing the training necessary to secure employment in the Tech Sector.
