Launched in 2013, New District's mission is to simplify the enjoyment of wine by empowering wine drinkers with knowledge, choice, and access. To make this happen, we're developing an end-to-end platform that enables small and mid-sized B.C. craft wineries, access to the entire wine-buying market, including both consumers and restaurants. What iTunes did for music, we will do for wine. We've assembled a rockstar team including the backers of Seattle's Best Coffee, investors in SPUD, to one of the leading wine educators and resources in B.C, among others.BC wine drinkers spent 1 billion on wine last year. Half of this was spent on wine grown and made in B.C. However 80% of the wine sold is from only three suppliers leaving 250 small to mid sized wineries without access to the market. Statistics show that 94% of wine SKU's at the BCLDB come from those same three suppliers. That's where the platform we're creating, and ultimately you come in.
