Bayshore EMS is a licensed, volunteer, non-profit EMS agency that was founded in 2015 as a merger between the Matawan First Aid & Rescue Squad and South Aberdeen EMS. Our former organizations have been providing volunteer emergency "911" basic life support ambulance services for the Borough of Matawan and Township of Aberdeen since 1934.Bayshore EMS is a licensed by the New Jersey Office of Emergency Medical Services as a Basic Life Support ambulance agency. We provide the equipment, knowledge, and trained personnel to respond in the event of an emergency. All active members are certified by the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services as Emergency Medical Technicians. The minimum requirement for any member is a certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at the Healthcare Provider level. Bayshore EMS also cooperates with hospital-based Monmouth-Ocean Hospital Service Corporation (MONOC) paramedics, who provide advanced life support. The paramedics assist squad members by providing a higher level of medical care, essentially bringing the emergency room to the patient.Currently, Bayshore EMS operates four ambulances (56, 57, 63, and 64), and a rescue boat. Rescues are conducted in cooperation with Aberdeen Township Hose & Chemical Company, Cliffwood Volunteer Fire Company, Matawan Borough Fire Department, and Matawan Police Department's Advanced Services Unit.Bayshore EMS is dispatched through Aberdeen Township Police Department's Communications Division. Members respond to the squad building in personal vehicles (which are identified by flashing blue lights in an emergency) and then respond to the scene of the emergency with the appropriate apparatus. The squad regularly responds to medical calls, fire calls, motor vehicle accidents, and conducts various community event standbys.
